In hopes of fostering greater artistic
vibrancy in Sonoma County, the Chamber Singers is especially interested
in composers of our region, but composers of the greater Bay Area and
beyond are also encouraged to submit an application. Above all,
the artistry and substance of a composer's work is the primary concern
of the Chamber Singers.
The goal of this Residency program is to foster new works of quality for
the choral medium, thereby helping to establish choral music as a vital
art in the 21st century. The Chamber Singers also desires that
this Residency be a support to the prosperity of the arts community of
our region.
The Composer-in-Residence will be afforded opportunities for multiple
performances of their works, and the Composer will enjoy a collaborative
artistic relationship with our outstanding musicians and directorial
talent.
Application Process
The applicant is asked to provide three representative
works of varying style or effect. These three works will serve as
a portfolio by which the Chamber Singers can assess matters of musical
versatility and technique, as well as artistry of text-setting.
Please include three copies of each work. If recordings are
available, they should be included. If you would like these scores
and recordings returned, please include a self-addressed stamped
envelope.
A concise musical resume should accompany the application. Please
include any information you feel is relevant to your qualifications.
Applications should be post-marked by May 5, 2008.
Applications may be sent to:

After evaluation of applications, the Chamber Singers
will invite composers to interviews. These interviews are for the
purpose of fully acquainting the composer with the ensemble and its
artistic temperament, and they will provide an opportunity for the
composer to identify projects and ideas for their coming season as
Composer-in-Residence.
